1-20. 11K SELF-RECOVERY WINCH (SRW)
Figure 1-15. 11K Self-Recovery Winch (SRW)
a. 11K Self-Recovery Winch (SRW). When specified, any vehicle may be equipped
with a 11K SRW (1) (Figure 1-15) mounted on the right hand frame rail. The 11K SRW
is rated for 11,000 lbs (48,924 N) pull when the winch drum has one full layer of cable.
Pulling capacity is reduced with each layer of cable added to the winch drum. One full
layer of cable is the minimum amount of cable that may be left on the drum when using
the 11K SRW. Pulling capacity with seven full layers of cable on the winch drum is
6,780 lbs (30,157 N). For recovery operations, the cable may be routed to the front or
to the rear on all vehicles so equipped.
(1) Hydraulic pressure to operate the 11K SRW is supplied by a single stage hydraulic
pump (2) mounted on the back of the PTO (3).
(2) Placing the PTO switch (4) in the on position causes the PTO drive gear to engage
with the transmission. When the PTO is engaged, it drives the hydraulic pump.
